Health and Safety Policy

The safety of volunteers, guests, and members of the public is very important to The 3 Pillars – Dunstable. We aim to provide a safe environment for everyone involved in our services.

General Safety

Volunteers should always:

• Follow instructions from the Service Lead or Coordinator

• Be aware of potential hazards

• Report any safety concerns immediately

• Work cooperatively with other volunteers

Volunteers should avoid putting themselves or others in unsafe situations.

Incident Reporting

Any accident, injury, or safety concern must be reported to the Service Lead as soon as possible.

Serious incidents may need to be recorded and reported to the appropriate authorities or HQ trustees.

Aggressive Behaviour

Occasionally volunteers may encounter individuals who are distressed or upset.

Volunteers should:

• Remain calm

• Avoid confrontation

• Step away from the situation if necessary

• Inform the Service Lead immediately

Volunteers should never attempt to deal with aggressive behaviour alone.

Manual Handling

Volunteers may sometimes assist with setting up equipment or moving supplies.

When lifting items:

• Ask for help if something is heavy

• Lift carefully to avoid injury

• Do not attempt to move objects that are unsafe to lift

Responsibility

All volunteers share responsibility for helping maintain a safe environment during services.
